BITE Sussex launches a new monthly series of 'Meanwhile Mondays' pop-up dining events in Brighton

Presented by BITE Sussex in conjunction with Meanwhile, the monthly pop-up events will feature a varied line-up of guest chefs and culinary styles including Angelica Food’s Maria Chilton and Jimmy Gray (formerly of Jeremy’s Restaurant), and Meanwhile’s head chef Ian Aungier working alongside Boho Gelato’s Seb Cole on an off-the-wall frozen supper.

The first guest chef on the evening of Monday 3 April is Simon Mckenzie who’s spent the past 30 years working in leading restaurant and hotel kitchens across the UK including Relais and Chateaux Vineyard at Stockcross, Limewood Hotel in the New Forest and Old Government House in Guernsey. Three year’s ago Simon set up as a private chef and caterer offering a super premium service to clients across London and the home counties.

Simon is passionate about sourcing the very best ingredients available to him and enjoys excellent relationships with suppliers and peers who share his passion for food.

“My menu will take diners through a journey of five punchy plates of food that highlight use of some of my favourite ingredients married with my favourite styles of cooking”, said Simon.

“From refreshing salads to a twist on Brighton fish and chips, it’s a really varied and fun menu. I think guests will really enjoy the sticky pigs cheek and shiitake barley dish that was inspired by my time in the Far East”.

“If people book in advance then I’m available to adapt the menu for vegetarians and those with gluten-intolerance”, added Simon.
